Whatever Happened To Jell-O Pudding Pops?
By SYLVIA TOMCZAK
According to the book "What Were They Thinking? Marketing Lessons You Can Learn from Products That Flopped," Jell-O Pudding Pops generated over $100 million during their first year in national distribution, growing to $300 million just five years later. Yet, today, this beloved snack is no longer available.
In the book, Robert McMath reveals that because Jell-O wasn't in the business of frozen foods, Pudding Pops were actually too expensive to make. According to Today, the Jell-O Pudding Pops name was licensed to Popsicle in 2004, but they completely disappeared off of supermarket shelves sometime in the 2010s.
In 2018, the official Twitter account for Jell-O shared that the product stopped being sold because not enough people were purchasing the frozen treat. So, if you’re still hankering for a pudding pop, you can create your own version at home using milk and a package of pudding.
