Wine At Costco You Should Leave On The Shelf
BY DB Kelly
Santa Margherita
While the Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio has a respectable 4.1 out of 5 stars on Vivino, you may want to pass on the wine due to its price.
Costco has many other white wine options that are more affordable. One great alternative is the Italian Dreamer Pinot Grigio, which is half the price of the Santa Margherita.
Kirkland Chardonnay
The Kirkland Signature Chardonnay might be a perfectly acceptable option for cooking, but there are better wine choices available for drinking.
On Vivino, thousands have given the Kirkland Signature Sonoma County Chardonnay an average of 3.4 out of 5 stars, while the Kirkland Signature Chardonnay received a 3.3.
Meiomi
In 2024, Meiomi Pinot Noir sued another winemaking company after Siduri Wines founder Adam Lee had Meiomi's product tested by the wine lab ETS.
The ETS report found that Meiomi's wine contained 19.4 grams of sugar per liter. Lawsuit aside, the Meiomi Pinot Noir is just too overwhelmingly sweet for many wine lovers.
Côtes de Provence
The Kirkland Côtes de Provence Rosé is an acceptable wine, though not exceptional. The issue is that you can find a better product elsewhere.
Aldi's house brand, Côtes de Provence Rosé, is just $8 a bottle. This wine has won some serious awards, including honors from the International Wine Challenge in 2017.
Kirkland Bordeaux
Although Kirkland Signature products are usually great options, many opinions out there claim that the brand’s Bordeaux Supérieur is a miss.
Food critic Tan Vinh and sommelier Owen Bargreen both suggested avoiding the wine during a wine tasting, with Vinh calling it "the worst wine in our tasting."
