You Might Want To Try Clark Gable's Favorite Martini Hack
BY AUTUMN SWIERS
Hollywood legend Clark Gable is remembered for his many iconic roles. However, one lesser-known fact about the star is his particular way of making a martini.
When Gable assembled his ideal martini, he turned the vermouth bottle upside-down and held it there for a moment, allowing the spirit to soak the cork.
Once wet, he removed the cork and carefully traced it around the rim of the glass. This method creates a flavorful yet invisible rim, adding a hint of vermouth flavor.
It's also worth noting that this rim swipe was the only inclusion of vermouth in Gable's go-to martini. The in-glass portion of the cocktail was gin alone, stirred to chill.
The actor can be seen preparing a martini using his personal technique in the 1958 film, "Teacher's Pet." However, he only gave the bottle a few shakes rather than inverting it.
