Salty, sweet, boozy, and creamy, bourbon butter sauce is the ultimate homemade topping your ice cream needs. It can boost the flavor of any ice cream but works best with vanilla.

To make the sauce, you'll need a half stick of unsalted butter, a cup of sugar, a half cup of heavy cream, a tablespoon or two of bourbon, and a big pinch of salt.
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, whisk in everything else, and simmer until thickened or for five minutes. Let the sauce cool a bit, then spoon it onto your ice cream.
