You Should Start Soaking Sliced Peaches In Club Soda. Here's Why
By BRIANNA CORLEY
Fresh peaches are delicious when baked into decadent pie or eaten as a midday snack, but using them up before they turn brown and bruised can be a challenge. Fortunately, there's a way to treat sliced peaches so that they stay fresh and peachy keen in your fridge for a longer time than usual.
Instagram influencer Nicole Modic recommends placing your sliced peaches in club soda. Lemon water or honey water are other popular options, but club soda won't tamper with the peaches' flavor like lemon juice can, while the minerals in the soda will still keep the fruit “nice and crisp,” as Modic says.
Modic recommends soaking the peaches in club soda for 5 minutes to keep them fresh for up to 5 days, as long as they’re in a closed container in your fridge. The Allrecipes team tried this technique and discovered their peaches hadn’t changed in taste or texture after the 5-day waiting period.
