Experience

Sophie has been a freelance writer and editor specializing in food and travel for over 20 years. She is based by a loch in rural Scotland, and has expert knowledge of the Scottish and UK restaurant and food scene. She travels frequently, always making a beeline for interesting local restaurants and vibrant food markets. Sophie honed her craft at magazines in London after qualifying as a journalist, spending a few years at Condé Nast Traveller, before going it alone. She has written for UK newspapers, magazines, and websites, as well as many commercial organizations. Her byline has appeared in The Times and Sunday Times (London), The Guardian, i newspaper, Olive Magazine, and Conde Nast Traveller, among many others. She also spent a few years working with the Scottish chef Nick Nairn — the youngest chef in the UK to gain a Michelin star — assisting with recipe writing and editing instructions for his cook school classes. She is also a keen cook and loves to entertain friends at home.

Education

Sophie earned a BA (Hons) in music at the University of Bristol, and went on to gain a postgraduate NCTJ (National Council for the Training of Journalists) diploma in journalism at the University of Cardiff.
