Where To Find Clothesline Candied Bacon At Disney World
While Disney World is obviously best known for its fantastical, immersive theme park attractions and its array of colorful character meet and greets which delight kids of all ages, the Disney resorts in California and Florida have also become destinations for foodies seeking out unique, highly Instagram-able sweet and savory treats. There are multiple websites and social media channels dedicated entirely to Disney food and every Disney regular has a list of their favorite exclusive snacks and restaurants.
One unusual treat that has been getting a lot of love from fans in recent years though is a bit different than the fan favorites like Dole Whip, Mickey waffles, or those infamous giant turkey legs. Candied bacon has stolen the show at one of the newer restaurants at Walt Disney World in Florida. This item, which is available as an appetizer or snack, consists of four pieces of thick-cut bacon candied with maple and black pepper and served with mustard dipping sauce and sweet and spicy pickles. While the snack itself has received rave reviews, it's the unique presentation that really sells guests on the item as the bacon is served hanging from a miniature clothesline.
A Disney Springs delicacy
There is only one spot in the Disney World Resort where you can get your hands on this sweet and spicy appetizer and it's not actually in one of the theme parks. The DB "Clothesline" Candied Bacon, as it is officially called, is available at The Edison in the Disney Springs shopping district, which means it's easily enjoyed by both tourists and locals looking for a night out that doesn't involve paying for Disney park admission. The Edison opened in January 2018 on the West End of Disney Springs, features American cuisine, and, according to Disney, is designed to look like an abandoned 1920s steam-punk power plant.
The Edison's executive chef Dee Rolle recently told Insider that the candied clothesline bacon is not only one of her favorite dishes at her own restaurant, but is also a huge hit amongst customers, who regularly order seconds.
"The candied bacon is something so simple and so unique, but in the same scope, it's such a wow factor, because you get this personal clothesline setting in front of you," Rolle told Insider. "Most guests are like, 'Oh my goodness.' They say they wouldn't even have thought of it. But they really enjoy it."
The Edison is open for lunch and dinner if you're hoping to get a taste of this $18 bacon treat on your next Disney trip. The venue features live entertainment and is popular so reservations are recommended.
