Watermelon Sugar

Ingredients
- Equal parts salt, sugar and cayenne pepper, mixed well, for rimming the glass
- Ice
- Two 2-inch square chunks of fresh watermelon
- 1⁄2 ounce cane syrup (such as Depaz brand) or simple syrup
- 3⁄4 ounce fresh lime juice
- 1⁄2 ounce mezcal, preferably Del Maguey San Luis 11⁄2 ounces silver tequila, preferably Herradura
Directions
- Wet the rim of a cocktail glass and coat with the salt mixture. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the remaining ingredients. Shake well and strain into the prepared glass.
