Where Fashion Designers And Editors Eat And Drink During NYFW 2014 | Tasting Table NYC
Where to eat and drink during New York Fashion Week 2014
Insert joke about models not eating here.
Designers and editors certainly do, and as the industry's most impeccably dressed have descended upon New York City for Fashion Week, they're squeezing in all the runway shows and parties they can while making sure they eat well, too.
Here's where the fashion elite eat, drink and unwind during the height of the fashion season:
Kaelen Haworth, Women's Wear Designer
Her must-have: The Smile for breakfast
"I basically live there," Haworth says. "I always get the multigrain toast with almond butter and strawberries ($6) in the morning. The ambiance is perfect because it's so chill. It's like you're eating at a friend's house." Haworth's also been dying to try Egg Shop. "All eggs all the time is the dream, right?"
Mickey Boardman, Editorial Director of Paper
His must-have: Veggie stew ($21) at Indochine for dinner
"Really it's the only place I go, and it's a favorite of fashion legends like Carine Roitfeld, Stephan Gan, Iman, Bethann Hardison and me!" Boardman tells us. "Also the Boom Boom Room! I go out every night but don't stay out too late. For me, parties are a chance to say hi to designers and see colleagues in a relaxed fun setting."
Erin Cunningham, Refinery29's New York Editor
Her must-have: All the carbs at Via Emilia
"Via Emilia is mine and my boyfriend's hidden gem in Flatiron," Cunningham says. "There's nothing like relaxing with a glass of wine, some grilled octopus and a LARGE bowl of pasta." During Fashion Week, she sticks with her standbys—a quick salad from Sweetgreen ("I'm so happy my favorite college spot is finally in NYC") or a burger with truffle fries from Delicatessen—but she's also keeping an eye on new openings. "The Bar at The Ludlow and The Leonora are on my radar in terms of Fashion Week spots," Cunningham shares. "Dirty French just opened and I can't wait have dinner there (although I think that may have to wait until after Fashion Week)."
TT's (Questionably) Fashionable Editors
Our must-have: Rose Bakery at Dover Street Market
Adrian Joffe, Comme des Garçons' president, is the man behind Dover Street Market in Kips Bay, a mini high-fashion emporium stocking Jil Sander, Christopher Kane and Rose Bakery, which offers delicious little French-style baked goods. The menu changes daily, but we love the jiggly, eggy quiches (this season, it's cauliflower with niçoise olive and smoked salmon with zucchini and peas, $14) with pot of Harney & Sons' Hao Ya black tea ($9).
