Watch "Top Chef" Winner Stephanie Izard's Chef Contest Video
Girl & the Goat chef has her own solution to the chef shortage
We're pretty obsessed with This Thing Now. Here's how to get it into your life.
The same place you scour for gently used couches and last-minute roommates is where a lot of chefs find their cooks.
"Craigslist ads can't be the only way to find good people," Stephanie Izard, Top Chef winner and chef/owner of Girl & the Goat in Chicago, explains.
In response to the recent chef shortage, Izard has come up with her own brilliant and simple way to find quality cooks: a video asking them to get in touch.
Watch Izard's call to cooks everywhere to enter her contest to stage, aka intern, at one of her Chicago restaurants, flight and accommodations included. Applicants just need to email Izard a résumé and an explanation as to why she should pick them. (Her email address, Stephanie@girlandthegoat.com, is at the end of the video.)
"So far, we have gotten great responses from many different cities, which is so cool!" Izard says. "A lot of our staff has moved to Chicago for culinary reasons, and we just want to encourage more of that!"
The contest officially ends at the end of the month, so prospective chefs should start updating their résumés ASAP.
