Alain Ducasse Tapped To Open Restaurant At Versailles

Alain Ducasse will open a restaurant at Versailles in 2018

Marie Antoinette's left breast may not have actually been what inspired coupe glasses, but diners may soon be drinking out of them at her one-time home. Alain Ducasse, the multi-Michelin-starred chef, will open a restaurant at Versailles, the opulent palace that housed Antoinette, and before her, Louis the XIV.

The restaurant is part of a 20-room hotel that will debut on the palace grounds in 2018 with the help of luxury hotel group LOV Hotel Collection. The building that will house the project (after a $15 million renovation) was once the ministry of finance and a dining room for soldiers in the 17th century—so sadly dreams of dining in the Hall of Mirrors will have to wait for another day.

It's too far out to know what the menu will look like, but CTV News reports that the design "will remain faithful to the opulent, lavish style of the 18th century."

Hopefully, there will be cake.
