The Spooky Starbucks Frappuccino You Might Have Forgotten
If there is one thing Starbucks is known for, it's their fabulous seasonal beverages. What's fall without a pumpkin spice latte? What's winter without a peppermint mocha? But have they ever taken it a little too far into the realm of the weird and bizarre? If you're a Starbucks fan, then you may think you know everything they've ever released.
You probably remember the Pokémon Go Frappuccino, or the cotton candy Frappuccino. Remember when the internet was all a twitter over the Unicorn Frappuccino? Multiple coffee fans have even asked Starbucks to bring back the iconic pink drink on Instagram. One wrote, "Can you bring it back? I never got to try it."
While there has been an abundance of, shall we say, unique Frappuccino flavors over the years there is one that might evoke a stronger reaction than others. One that might have made you think twice before ordering it, questioning if it really was appetizing.
The Zombie Frappuccino
This chilling frozen beverage only lasted a few days back in the fall of 2017, but it left an indelible mark on the moment. When creating the flavor, Starbucks' beverage development team said they started brainstorming for fall flavors, and thought about Halloween parties and the "Monster Mash." What's more monstrous than a brain-eating zombie? So, they came up with the Zombie Frappuccino.
The green beverage was made with Frappuccino Crème infused with flavors of green apple and caramel, but its most ghastly detail? It was topped with a swirly pink whipped cream topping, reminiscent of brains and a red mocha drizzle reminiscent of blood. Yikes! Pop Sugar noted that the drink was only available from October 26 until October 31 of that year and it hasn't made an appearance since. Will this drink rise up from the grave and come back? Only time will tell.
In the meantime Starbucks has released their 2022 fall menu and it promises such drinks as Harry Potter pumpkin juice, apple crisp oat milk macchiato, and the classic pumpkin spiced latte. A bit less scary and a bit more appetizing.
