Sabrett Hot Dog Recall

New York may be known for having a ubiquitous hot dog cart on seemingly every corner, but you might want to hold off on grabbing a meal from under those blue-and-yellow umbrellas.

Over the weekend, the USDA announced that Marathon Enterprises—the company behind Sabrett's hot dogs—is recalling nearly 7.2 million pounds of its products due to "extraneous materials," specifically, bone fragments. The hot dogs in question were produced between March 17 and July 4, 2017. (According to Sabrett, which ships its products to retailers across the eastern U.S., the sell-by date of said dogs is from June 19 to October 6, 2017.)  

Thankfully, aside from one minor reported injury, there have been no reports of anything serious. In its own announcement, Sabrett also mentioned that its staff "immediately investigated and identified an issue that could have allowed this to occur, and an equipment installation issue was quickly addressed."
