NoMad throws a masquerade ball of epic proportions

Anyone lucky enough to spend the first Saturday in May eating fried chicken and gulping juleps inside that otherwise serene temple of gastronomy, Eleven Madison Park, already knows that Daniel Humm and Will Guidara throw the best bourbon-fueled, big-hatted, seersucker-est Kentucky Derby party north of the Ohio River.

But May is a long way away. And the duo behind Michelin three-star EMP and The NoMad hotel have been itching to find another way to see one of their fine establishments trampled by hordes of sloshed and stylish fun-seekers.

Now they turn their attention to that other day of dress-up: Halloween.

Team Humm/Guidara doesn't know how to do anything half-assed, so the first NoMad Masquerade Ball, on October 31, is a black-tie-and-masks-mandatory situation with an eight-foot cocktail fountain, multiple bands and DJs, inevitable table dancing, suckling pig roasts and other NoMad restaurant treats.

Why a Halloween ball? Reached for comment, the pair replied: "We love Halloween. We love dressing up. We love throwing parties. This is our way of tying these three things into one–an epic black tie masquerade where everyone can get together and celebrate Halloween again...perhaps with just a touch more class than usual."
