Finland Hotel On Skis
Welcome to Finland's version of glamping
If you want to hunt down the northern lights, you could strap on a pair of snowshoes and don your heaviest jacket. Or you could just lie down in bed, thanks to Aurora Wilderness Camp, which launched in Finland earlier this year.
The camp's three hotel rooms, which you can book through Off the Map Travel, are each mounted on skis and equipped with a glass roof for staring up at the natural wonder. Plus, each one, comes complete with an extra-wide bed, a functioning bathroom, and a gas stove and heater to keep you cozy throughout the night. Once you're settled in, the cabins are then moved to a remote area of Kilpisjärvi, Finland, where during wintertime there's up to a 70 percent chance of viewing the northern lights.
A four-day, three-night itinerary starts at around $2,100 a person. Keep in mind, though, the rooms are available only until mid-April, and are then put away until January.
