It doesn't take much to make a lemon drop martini, but you can count on plenty of bright, refreshing, and subtly sweet flavors to power through. Serve this martini at your next dinner party, or simply make one for yourself on a Friday night — you can't beat flavors this simple and delicious.

Gather the ingredients for a lemon drop martini

Start with some vodka, the centerpiece of this recipe. "I love Kettle One or Tito's vodka in this cocktail," Musgrave shares. You'll also need Cointreau, simple syrup, lemon juice, and sugar.

Rim the martini glass with sugar

Start off by sprinkling sugar on a plate. This will be used to rim the edge of the glass. Wet the rim of the glass and dip it into the sugar. Twist it around on the plate to coat the rim well, then set it aside.

Pour your drink into a shaker filled with ice

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then add in the vodka, simple syrup, Cointreau, and lemon juice. Shake the cocktail up until it's nice and chilled.

Serve the lemon drop martini

Strain the cocktail out into your sugar-rimmed glass. Now it's ready to drink, though if you really want to fancy it up add a garnish. "A lemon twist or dehydrated lemon slice would be a good garnish addition," she says. As for serving options, this cocktail would pair well with some light fare — of course, there's nothing wrong with enjoying it all on its own, either.
