Reese's Is Adding A Familiar Cereal Into Its New Peanut Butter Cups

The cereal aisle of the grocery store is either a nightmare with too many decisions or heaven on earth with all the sweet breakfast options to choose from — and the companies making them have done a great job at making breakfast taste like candy and dessert. From the traditional brands like Lucky Charms' sweet marshmallows, sugar-coated Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and chocolate-indulgent Reese's Puffs, to new innovations such as Wendy's Frosty cereal and Cosmic Brownie cereal, why not reverse the order and make dessert taste like cereal? Well, turns out, that's exactly what Reese's has had up its sleeves lately.

Launching a partnership with General Mills back in 1994, Reese's merged the candy and cereal business (via Snack History), and now they're really merging. The secret its been keeping is now revealed: Reese's is putting Reese's puffs, the peanut butter cup-inspired cereal, inside the actual peanut butter cups. What better way to achieve crunch than to add cereal into a candy bar?

Reese's Puffs are adding extra crunch

Reese's states that this might be the "most meta" candy it's ever come out with, having a larger peanut butter cup than normal so the cereal can fit inside. This new candy mash-up will hit stores nationwide in November. Reese's is giving credit to itself for its partnerships and innovative products it's created in the past that fit the chocolate peanut butter cup theme.

Reese's Senior Associate Brand Manager, Henry Hancock, stated in a press release, "We're taking chocolate and peanut butter fandom to a new stratosphere by adding Reese's Puffs cereal to our Reese's Big Cup. Collaborations are quite popular but what we are about to unleash is the next level. We knew the ultimate mash-up was already within Reese's universe, so we made it happen." The company is leaving the price of the Big Cup up to the retailer of stores where it is sold. This type of collision is focused on texture and crispy bits that add big flavor to the peanut butter-stuffed chocolate candies we know and love.
