Chipotle Is Bringing Back A Fan Favorite Deal For Halloween 2022
Like many restaurants, Chipotle Mexican Grill had to pivot to succeed in spite of the challenges COVID-19 threw — and continues to throw — its way. Some of the changes the pandemic wrought on Chipotle have proven beneficial to both the company and its customers. For example, in response to a pandemic-driven increase in drive-thru demand, Chipotle invested in growing its drive-thru business by building on its already successful Chipotlane while, at the same time, making the drive-thru experience more efficient for customers.
Other changes brought on by the pandemic and its aftermath, including inflation-appropriate hiked-up menu prices, may have offered somewhat less of a direct benefit to customers (although, arguably, loyal fans do benefit from this unfortunate development to the extent that it helps keep Chipotle afloat amid supply chain snafus that have led to higher company costs). Perhaps most distressing for die-hard Chipotle fans of a certain age (that age being that of those in the millennial generation, according to The Shorty Awards), however, was the fact that the pandemic forced Chipotle to radically reformat its annual Boorito promotion during 2020 and 2021.
A Chipotle Halloween tradition since 2000, OG Boorito's premise was simple: Turn up at a Chipotle in costume on Halloween, and, in return, get free and/or discounted Chipotle food. And luckily, after the last two years required Chipotle to reconceive Boorito as online only, the fan favorite Halloween deal is back, and just as it was meant to be.
Chipotle's Boorito returns as a live event for Halloween 2022
Chipotle's fan favorite Halloween celebration, Boorito, is set to return in person at participating Chipotle restaurants for 2022 (via a press release from Chipotle). On Monday, October 31, customers visiting participating Chipotle locations in costume between 3 p.m. and closing can receive a Chipotle entree for $6 (hopefully, that includes Chipotle's secret menu items). Participation requires membership in Chipotle Rewards and participants will need to have the Chipotle app handy for scanning at the cash register on that day.
Sweetening the deal this year is the launch of "BooReal" on BeReal (a social media platform favored by Gen Z), which entitles participants to enter to win Chipotle burritos for a year (10 will be given away as part of BooReal). Participation requires taking a photo of oneself in costume at Chipotle on Halloween 2022 and posting it to BeReal with the hashtag #booritosweepstakes and sharing it to their Instagram story — along with that same hashtag while tagging Chipotle (@chipotle). Alternatively, fans can send their photo in via email to SWEEPSTAKES@CHIPOTLE.COM, with "BooReal Sweepstakes" in the subject line.
In addition, Chipotle is giving away a total of $25,000 to Rewards program members, who may enter by following @ChipotleTweets and "dropping their $cashtag with #ChipotleBoorito" in reply to Chipotle's respective tweets on October 13, 20, and 25, and October 27." Each of the first three will be worth $5,000 cash and the October 27 giveaway will be worth $10,000.
