Eggo And MorningStar Farms Teamed Up For A Vegan Breakfast Sandwich
The saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day holds up, according to WebMD. Enjoying breakfast in the morning gets your metabolism moving and adds some extra energy after a good night's sleep. Some studies have reportedly shown that consistently eating a hearty breakfast could lower cholesterol, improve your memory, and even lower the risk of diabetes or heart disease.
Frozen food can be a great way to grab a quick breakfast on the go for those busy weekday mornings. Ready-to-heat breakfast sandwiches, toaster waffles, and French toast sticks can be found in most grocery store frozen food aisles. For people following a vegan diet, MorningStar Farms' Incogmeato brand has been working to cater to those who prefer a plant-based diet. It has previously released various types of vegetable-based sausage, bacon, and even a breakfast sandwich. Now, MorningStar Farms is collaborating with Eggo to add an additional vegan breakfast sandwich to the roster.
Start your day with this vegan sandwich
Eggo and MorningStar Farms — which are both owned by Kellogg's — are joining forces to release a vegan breakfast sandwich featuring Eggo Liège-style waffles sandwiching Incogmeato Plant-Based Chik'n from MorningStar Farms (via Vegconomist). These waffles are thicker and sturdier than traditional frozen Eggo waffles, making them a great option for an on-the-go breakfast. Each sandwich is packed with 21 grams of protein to start your morning off energized.
The collaboration follows a limited release of a similar sandwich last year, according to VegNews. To celebrate National Waffle Day 2021, winners of a giveaway received a box of Chik'n & Waffles. Though this release was vegetarian-friendly, some criticized the product for not catering to vegans, due to the buttermilk waffles that were used. Well Kellogg's listened, and the waffles in this new release will make history as the brand's first vegan waffles. The new chicken and waffles-inspired sandwich will be sold two to a package for $8.49 at grocery stores where MorningStar Farms products are found.
