How Many Restaurants Does Gordon Ramsay Actually Own?
Few celebrity chefs are as simultaneously famous and infamous as Gordon Ramsay. Ramsay has aimed to make the culinary world more accessible by sharing cooking tips for beginners and hosting the Fox series "Hell's Kitchen," which has been airing since 2005. Per IMDB, the premise of the appropriately-named show is that Ramsay "puts aspiring young chefs through rigorous challenges" in the name of improving their cooking chops. (Pun intended.) But, along the way, the chef has also famously been known to hurl (admittedly inventive) insults like "I wouldn't trust you running a bath, let alone a restaurant," or "My gran could do better! And she's dead!" (via Parade).
Like the chef himself, many of Ramsay's restaurants have been subject to extreme praise and criticism. Not long after the controversial chef opened his first-ever establishment, the eponymous Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, in 1998, it quickly reached three-Michelin-star status, arguably the most prestigious accolade in the food world. In 2019, Ramsay's London restaurant Lucky Cat was accused of cultural appropriation, per Eater. In 2007, two Restaurant Gordon Ramsay locations in London were criticized for serving endangered bluefin tuna, per DailyMail — but Ramsay did remove the fish from menus following the backlash. So, for a chef with such a lengthy and eventful career, how many restaurants does Gordon Ramsay actually own? (Spoiler alert: It's a lot.)
58 restaurants carry Gordon Ramsay's name
Drum roll, please. Seven-Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay owns a whopping 58 total restaurants worldwide, says Parade. The establishments operate under 26 different names and are spread across the globe. Fifteen of Ramsay's restaurants are in North America, but the chef also has establishments in countries including China, France, Korea, Malaysia, and more.
For a casual bite, fans can hit up Gordon Ramsay Burger, Gordon Ramsay Food Market, Bread Street Kitchen, Bread Street Kitchen & Bar, Bread Street Café, Street Burger, Street Pizza, or Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill (not to be confused with Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill). Devoted television foodies can visit Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen. (None of the three locations are actually located in New York, by the way.) Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Pétrus by Gordon Ramsay, Au Trianon, and Le Pressoir D'Argent Gordon Ramsay are all located in Europe and all boast Michelin stars. Plus, London's Restaurant Gordon Ramsay is the longest-running three-starred restaurant in the entire city.
Honorable mentions include Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips, Gordon Ramsay Steak, Restaurant 1890 by Gordon Ramsay, The River Restaurant by Gordon Ramsay, Lucky Cat, Savoy Grill, Heddon Street Kitchen, The Narrow, York & Albany, Gordon Ramsay Plane Food, Gordon Ramsay Academy, and Ramsay's Kitchen. All that — and the chef only opened his first restaurant 24 years ago. (That's a track record of roughly 2.4 new restaurant openings every year for Ramsay's entire career.)
