Absolut Is Going All In On The Espresso Martini Trend With Handbag Collab

If you remember Zima, appletinis, and, of course, "Sex and the City"-inspired cosmos, you probably remember the espresso martini (via Vinepair). Once a staple of buzzy '90s bars, the coffee cocktail disappeared as quickly as it exploded, a forgotten drink subsumed by the craft cocktail revival of the 2000s. Of course, in our nostalgia-crazed culture, nothing is ever truly gone for long, and, as Eater reports, the espresso martini has joined the ranks of things like sun-dried tomatoes, white chocolate, and Dunkaroos in being reborn for a new generation obsessed with the '90s.

Espresso martinis haven't just become a go-to order for the Instagram-conscious at bars around the country. They are also finding their way into supermarkets and liquor stores, combining forces with another trend, the ready-to-drink cocktail (via Kahlúa). While you never know when a trend is going to crash and burn, or turn into a permanent fixture of the culture, it looks like the drink born in a London bar is certainly having a moment. It only makes sense, then, that someone would create the perfect accessory to have when sipping on an espresso martini — an espresso martini handbag.

Absolut releases an espresso martini handbag with Nikolas Bentel

Absolut vodka has been pretty invested in the espresso martini boom, which is understandable given vodka's prominent role in the recipe. Well, now — and just in time for the holidays — it looks like they have gone one step further in their celebration of the cocktail, collaborating with designer Nikolas Bentel to release a new handbag shaped like an espresso martini. According to Forbes, Bentel is a New York-based designer who specializes in creating objects that tell a story. Bentel professes to be quite the espresso martini lover himself, and worked to make sure the leather handbag closely matches the look of a real drink, including molding it to perfectly fit in a coupe glass.

The bag is part of Absolut's new "Born to Mix," campaign, which is meant to encourage individual personalities and the mixing of diverse people and points of view. In a press release, Absolut says the espresso martini's "personality," is meant to be lively and attention-grabbing, something they seek to reflect with the design of this drink-shaped handbag. The very limited-edition Absolut Espresso Martini Handbag will be available starting on Black Friday, November 25, at hauste.co/absoluteminisoiree.
