Del Taco's Tamale Menu Is Back For The Holidays With Added Perks
Does the sentence "Come on down to Del Taco" sound familiar? It's the unofficial fast-food chain of Vine, if you still remember the video-sharing social media platform of yore. Maybe you visit Del Taco for its affordable Mexican-American fusion fare or maybe you even order from the secret menu. Either way, folks are coming to Del Taco, and they keep coming back. During the 2021 fiscal year, Del Taco sales surpassed $527 million. The chain's annual revenue has been steadily increasing year-over-year since at least 2013, and it has expanded to 592 locations nationwide. Today, says QSR Magazine, Del Taco is the second-largest Mexican fast food chain in America.
Now, Del Taco is rolling out its holiday menu. It looks a little different from other seasonal menus, like Starbucks' sweet seasonal offerings of Peppermint Mochas and Chestnut Praline Lattes. At this restaurant, the festive offerings are created with savory palates in mind. Del Taco isn't the only fast food chain to hop on the savory train this holiday season either. P.F. Chang's 2022 holiday menu includes Wagyu Steak and Peking Duck Spring Rolls. (Step aside, peppermint fans.) So, without further ado, what can taco fans expect from the new menu? The answer is tamales – and a few added perks to boot.
Spicing it up this holiday season
Earlier this week, Del Taco brought back its tamale menu just in time for the holiday season. The classic tamales (sold individually, in twos, and in fours) are filled with fire-roasted salsa, shredded pork, stone ground corn masa, and wrapped in a corn husk. The restaurant is also offering Red & Green Smothered Tamales and Chili Cheese Smothered Tamales, with prices that sound just as appetizing. Per QSR Magazine, Del Taco is selling two tamales for $5. Plus, Del Yeah! Rewards members earn double rewards points for every two and four-pack of tamales they buy, and for every order of Smothered Tamales.
'Tis the season of giving — and, if taco fans purchase a Del Taco gift card, it comes with free food. Buy a $20 gift card and get two free chicken tacos. Spend $30 on gift cards and get four free tacos, or one free small-sized Combo Meal (if you buy the gift cards online). If you shell out $100 on Del Taco gift cards through December 28, you get a passenger seat full of four free Combo Meals. (Hungry yet?) The tamale menu is only running for a limited time, so fans looking to unwrap some tamales while wrapping presents this season should take note.
