Kellogg's New Krave Flavor Doubles Down On The Chocolate
It's been a lucrative year for Kellogg's. Fans of the company's products span roughly 180 countries, reports Investopedia, and in 2021, Kellogg's reported $1.5 billion in net income from net sales of $14.2 billion. This success hasn't come without some significant risk-taking for the 116-year-old company (per Kellogg's). In September 2022, Kellogg's rolled out its first-of-its-kind "just add water" portable single-serve cereal packages called Instabowls, complete with dehydrated milk powder. That same month, Kellogg's announced plans to separate into three distinct companies at the end of 2023, via a company press release. Under the split, the "Global Snacking Co.," "North America Cereal Co.," and "Plant Co." would be created to handle different sectors of Kellogg's portfolio of brands — and, indeed, it's a massive portfolio. According to its website, Kellogg's owns such beloved household-name snacks as Pringles, Cheez-It, Eggo waffles, Club crackers, and more.
Despite these brands' popularity, the company is known for its lineup of breakfast cereals, including longtime favorites like Special K, Raisin Bran, Frosted Flakes, and Apple Jacks. Now Krave — a newer addition to Kellogg's cereal oeuvre — is about to get an update with chocolate lovers in mind.
Double Chocolate Brownie Batter Cereal just dropped
Introducing: Kellogg's Krave Double Chocolate Brownie Batter Cereal. The Michigan-based company announced the new product earlier this week via a press release. Kellogg's Krave cereal typically features a multigrain cereal shell filled with chocolate, like a tiny cocoa pillow. But this new chocolate-packed flavor features a chocolate cereal shell loaded with brownie batter filling — doubling down on the chocolate. On Kellogg's website, the company states that Krave is "Crafted for chocovores." It first hit the U.S. market in 2012 (per Cereal Guru), and Brownie Batter joins only two existing chocolatey flavors: Chocolate and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
Kellogg's is also rolling out another new iteration of one of its beloved cereals: Froot Loops with Marshmallow Jumbo Snax. It's a reimagined snack version of the breakfast cereal, with massive loops and big, colorful marshmallows packaged into individual grab-and-go snack bags. Per Baking Business, Krave Double Chocolate Brownie Batter Cereal hits markets nationwide in December at a suggested retail price of $5.29 per 16-ounce box. Breakfast fans and chocolate lovers: this is your cue to get excited.
