Laughing Cow Just Announced 2 New Vegan Cheese Spreads
As demand grows for dairy-free cheese alternatives, so is The Laughing Cow's product lineup for all types of consumers. On December 8, parent company Bel Brands USA announced the release of The Laughing Cow Plant-Based, which comes in two flavors. The new vegan cheese spreads are joining the corporate portfolio of other animal-free offerings: Babybel Plant-Based and Boursin Dairy-Free. In addition to the new products from The Laughing Cow, Bel is introducing Nurishh Incredible Dairy Animal Free Cream Cheese Spread Alternative. The company launched Nurishh, its first brand dedicated to dairy alternatives, in 2021, per the corporate website.
Along with the debut of its new plant-based offerings, Bel also announced a partnership with Perfect Day, a fermentation company behind a pioneering technique that replicates dairy proteins without the use of animals. The new Nurishh Incredible Dairy Animal Free spread is a product of the collaboration. Other new partners for Bel are French company Standing Ovation, which is working on developing firmer and thicker cheese alternatives using microorganisms, and Superbrewed Food, which uses fermentation to create protein-rich ingredients, according to a press release sent to Tasting Table.
New vegan cheese spreads from The Laughing Cow
The Laughing Cow is known for its jovial logo and small spreadable cheese wedges. Bel is pledging that the brand's new dairy-free products will still have a craveable texture and flavor worthy of the reputation of its animal-based counterparts. (The Laughing Cow logo is still there, perhaps with even more reasons to smile.)
The Laughing Cow Plant-Based spreads come in Original and Garlic & Herb flavors, and are available to buy at Whole Foods locations across the U.S. for $5.49. Additionally, the new Nurishh product will be offered in three flavors: Original, Strawberry, and Chive & Onion. These cream cheese spread alternatives will retail for $4.99 each and will be sold at Kroger stores starting January 1.
The new additions show Bel's commitment to satisfying a variety of consumer needs and wants. "By expanding our portfolio and entering strategic partnerships, we are able to act on and embrace key insights, live responsibly, and provide delicious food that enables people to lead a good life," Florian Decaux, the company's plant-based acceleration director, said.
