Starbucks' Winter Menu Features A New Pistachio Cream Cold Brew

It's a new year and a new Starbucks seasonal menu is here! The winter menu debuts today, January 3, and it sees the return of some fan favorites as well as the debut of a brand new variation on the coffee chain's nutty pistachio-flavored latte. The Pistachio Latte, which can be ordered hot, iced, or as a frozen Frappuccino, returns for the third year, according to Starbucks, featuring espresso, pistachio flavor, and a salted brown butter topping.

Employing pistachio is a luxe touch, given that pistachios are among the priciest nuts available. Spending the extra dough may be worth it though because pistachios are predicted to be on trend in 2023, according to a press release. Starbucks was apparently ahead of the trend because the Pistachio Latte has been quite a hit over the past few years.

Best Coffee Recipes reviewed the drink in January 2022, saying that while many nut-flavored coffees all end up tasting mostly like hazelnut, Starbucks managed to effectively capture real pistachio flavor. So what can we expect from the new Pistachio Cream Cold Brew?

Smooth cold brew meets sweet pistachio cream

Starbucks says the new Pistachio Cream Cold Brew, "features Starbucks Cold Brew sweetened with vanilla syrup, and is topped with silky pistachio cream cold foam and salted brown-buttery sprinkles." Citing the year-round popularity of cold coffee, Starbucks hopes fans will enjoy the coziness of nutty pistachio served up in its creamy new bevvie. While Totally the Bomb has previously suggested a secret menu hack to create a DIY order for a Starbucks pistachio cream cold brew, we're looking forward to trying the official version.

Other items featured in the Winter 2023 menu include the return of the decadent Red Velvet Loaf, along with bags of Starbucks Tribute Roast, which is a blend of beans from four distinctive origins: Sumatra, Colombia, Papua New Guinea, and Ethiopia. The coffee chain is also rolling out two new reserve coffees at select locations: Starbucks Reserve Guatemala Lake Atitlan and Starbucks Reserve Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Chelelektu.

Starbucks Rewards members may have to track and spend their reward Stars a bit differently for 2023, but they can still rack up points redeemable for free drinks and merch by starting the new year off with a new Pistachio Cream Cold Brew.
