Dairy Queen's Valentine's Day Lineup Includes A New Blizzard
Whether you dismiss it as a cold marketing ploy or welcome it as a grand celebration of love, Valentine's Day offers one and all the opportunity to indulge in some delicious chocolate deals. As one of the more famous "aphrodisiac foods," chocolate has a natural place in the dessert lineup for the romantically-obsessed holiday. This amorous connotation mostly comes from all of the positive chemicals that chocolate can help release, like oxytocin, endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine (via Research Outreach).
Of course, The Guardian also notes that fermented foods like miso and sauerkraut can be equally mood-boosting to eat, increasing the production of serotonin in the gut. But alas, a heart-shaped box of sauerkraut may not delight your crush quite like one filled with chocolate. Chocolates are more shelf-stable and — it must be said — easier on the nose. For better or worse, Valentine's Day is a day devoted to chocolate.
This cocoa-rich holiday is often embraced by fast-food restaurant chains for a perfect promotional crossover. Take the recent Krispy Kreme and Hershey collaboration, which yielded a perfectly chocolatey heart-shaped doughnut, or Dairy Queen's just-announced Valentine's Day-inspired lineup, per People.
A triple truffle Blizzard and a heart-shaped cake
According to People, Dairy Queen's new triple truffle Blizzard is intended to replicate the cocoa decadence found in a box of chocolates. And with apologies to Forrest Gump, there are no mysteries as to which chocolates are featured in this Blizzard. Gone are the dreaded fruit creams and coconut clusters that seem to plague every chocolate box known to man. The triple truffle Blizzard features only the most beloved truffles: peanut butter, caramel, and fudge. This chocolate mix is swirled into the traditional DQ Blizzard base before receiving a final extravagant coat of their signature chocolate topping.
If you prefer your ice cream by the slice, Dairy Queen is also releasing a triple truffle Blizzard cupid cake, a heart-shaped dessert that packs all the deliciousness of the soft-serve Blizzard in ice cream cake form. This shareable cake also offers customers the opportunity to make this Valentine's Day a family affair.
So if your valentine has a penchant for both gravity-defying milkshakes and chocolate, you can head to Dairy Queen for the perfect Valentine's Day treat. Or, consider heading there to treat yourself — self-love is still love, after all.
