The Comforting Dish Chef Daniel Boulud Never Orders At A Restaurant

When it comes to comforting foods, there are a lot of delicious dishes to choose from. Whether you're craving something warm and gooey like macaroni and cheese or prefer something sweet like chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven, there's a treat for almost any palate. However, when it comes to famed chef Daniel Boulud, he's not willing to order his favorite comfort meal from any restaurant.

Boulud is regarded for his French cuisine and has 13 different restaurants around the world, including one in New York City that has two Michelin stars. At his award-winning eatery, Daniel, you'll find a four-course seasonal prix fixe menu that has featured dishes like Upstate New York Foie Gras Terrine, Lehigh Valley Squab, and a Rutabaga and Ruby Red Salad.

With his talent in the kitchen, it might be unsurprising that the restauranteur would prefer to make his favorite comfort food for himself.

He never orders soup while eating out

Boulud told Yahoo! that he prefers to make the broth himself because he likes to have a combination of vegetables, mixed with the right texture. He explained that each time he makes a soup it's different because he has no specific recipe that he consistently follows. The world-renowned chef said he enjoys walking around the kitchen and putting "all types of things" in it. Some of his favorite ingredients to add are fresh herbs, grains, spinach, meat, or seafood. Boulud also revealed that one of his favorites to make is moqueca soup. The Brazillian fish stew features fish or shrimp, peppers, and coconut milk, which is commonly served with rice.
