A One-Eyed Rescue Cat Was Just Named Cadbury's 2023 Bunny
America has voted, and Crash the Cat was picked as the "purrfect" pal to don the famous Cadbury bunny ears to promote the company's Creme Eggs. Of the animals competing to represent the candymaker as part of the fifth-annual Cadbury Bunny Tryouts "Rescue Pets Edition," 8-year-old Crash was deemed to be up for the task of starring in the Cadbury Clucking Bunny commercial this spring. In addition to getting to appear in the commercial, Cadbury will present Crash with $5,000 and donate $5,000 to a shelter of his choice. The ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) also will receive a $20,000 donation as part of the commercial tryouts and partnership with Cadbury.
Previous winners of the Cadbury Bunny Tryouts include Henri the English Bulldog (2019), Lieutenant Dan the Treeing Walker Coonhound (2020), Betty the Frog (2021), and Annie Rose the Therapy Dog (2022). So what made this sweet rescue cat stand out among the pack this year?
Crash's story
A rescue pet, Crash was given a second chance at life after a terrible car accident left him severely injured and with one eye. He was taken to an animal shelter to recover, and it was there that his personality began to shine through. Described as outgoing and quirky, Crash made many friends. He ended up becoming the resident shelter cat and, in that role, likes to greet people with a high-five.
"We are jumping with joy to hear Crash is the next Cadbury Bunny but not surprised as he is always the center of attention in any room. He's been through so much over the past few years and we appreciate the love his friends, family and cat enthusiasts across the country have shown," said Maddie Corey, Crash's owner.
While Crash and other cats may not get to eat Cadbury Creme Eggs consisting of a milk chocolate shell with a fondant filling this spring, their human friends can, as well as enjoy the recently launched Cadbury Dairy Milk Chunky Egg and the Cadbury OREO White Egg. Want to catch Crash in action? The commercial will begin airing on March 25 but can be seen online now.
