Disneyland's Can't-Miss Snack, According To Culinary Director Jeremiah Balogh
At Disneyland's California Adventure Park, there's so much to see and do, especially for those who love the Avengers. There's a chance to have an adventure with Spider-Man and assist Rocket from "Guardians of the Galaxy” with a special mission. And for park visitors, being part of all of this action certainly works up an appetite; luckily, the amusement park's food is as great as its attractions.
Located on the Avengers campus, Pym Test Kitchen offers an array of tasty bites and treats. But culinary director Jeremiah Balogh has singled out one menu item that park guests just must try: the Atomic Pretzel. This souped-up snack changes seasonally but always starts with a classic Disney soft pretzel as its base.
The latest iteration of the pretzel is Disney's twist on a poke bowl. It comes with salmon marinated in ponzu and sriracha and wasabi mayo add an extra kick. An avocado mousse adds some creaminess to the dish as well as some relief from the heat. All of this is topped off with some watermelon radish, which adds a bit of crunch.
Reinventing the soft pretzel
This latest version of the Atomic Pretzel — the Salmon Poke Pretzel — shows just how creative the Disney food geniuses can be, and it doesn't come cheap, $15.49 to be exact. It will only be available for a limited time, so if you want to try it, now is the time.
This is just the latest in a long line of inventive and delicious food creations at Disneyland. Last fall, the Atomic Pretzel was all decked out for the season. This take featured a sweet and salty pretzel covered in cinnamon sugar served with an apple-bacon compote, cream cheese, and a caramel sauce. Candied bacon and dried cranberries were sprinkled on top.
Disney also previously sold an Atomic Pretzel that featured chicken tossed in spicy buffalo sauce with blue cheese dressing and accompanied with carrot and celery sticks. Who knows what tasty concoctions the Pym Test Kitchen will come up with next? And while the Atomic Pretzel may be seasonal, Disneyland fans can always count on the Quantum Pretzel. This snack offers a simpler pretzel experience, which comes with a beer-cheese sauce for dipping.
