Krispy Kreme Debuts New Patriotic Donuts For The 4th Of July
This July 4th, Krispy Kreme, one of our favorite donut haunts, is flaunting its stars and stripes in the form of three new delicious, patriotic-themed donut flavors. And you don't even have to wait until the 4th to taste these treats and get in the holiday spirit — as early as June 21, head to participating locations in the U.S. to pick up individual donuts or a dozen. If you opt for the latter, you'll get a Fourth of July-themed box proclaiming the chain's holiday slogan, "Let sweetness ring!"
The new donuts include the Red Velvet Sparkler, which features a red velvet donut, cream cheese icing, red and blue star sprinkles, and white pearl sprinkles. You can also try a literal American flag in donut form — the Freedom Flag flavor decorates an original glazed donut with red-and-white icing stripes and blue-and-white sprinkles. If you're simply looking for a taste of patriotic flavors without all the flashiness, however, opt for the All-American Apple Pie Doughnut, which boasts an apple cinnamon filling, caramel-and-white icing, and a graham cracker crumb finish. And, if you want to go all-out for your July 4th celebration, order the Stars and Stripes dozen, which includes three of each plus three original glazed classics.
Land of the free, home of the donuts
If you want to pick up a box of the new donuts for your July 4th party but don't want to wait in line, you can also order pickup or delivery through Krispy Kreme's website and app at participating U.S. stores. If you don't have a store near you or if your local one isn't participating, some grocery stores, including Walmart, Kroger, and Publix, are selling six-pack donut assortments for a limited time. To check where you can snag a box in your area, head to Krispy Kreme's grocery store locator.
To encourage customers to truly get in the Independence Day holiday spirit, the chain is also offering one free original donut to every customer who shows up to a participating store on July 4th wearing red, white, and blue — this is also the last day the limited-time flavors are available. According to Dave Skena, Global Chief Brand Officer for Krispy Kreme, the new releases are intended to "... let sweetness ring at any gathering — from backyard barbeques to lined sidewalks at neighborhood and community parades across the land" (via Business Wire). And, with Krispy Kreme sales up, you'll want to get yours as soon as you can. Loving your country never tasted so sweet.
