Not only does her take on an eggnog milkshake incorporate the classic beverage, but it also incorporates some additional holiday flavors like cinnamon and nutmeg, making for a dreamy dessert experience.

"I love how easy these eggnog milkshakes are to make," Shungu says of this recipe. "With just a little effort, you get a big 'wow' factor. They would be a fun snack or dessert to make on a holiday afternoon with family or friends." Sometimes, the best recipes are the simplest ones — and it doesn't get much simpler than whipping up a milkshake! Gather the ingredients to make eggnog milkshakes

Before you can blend up an eggnog milkshake, you'll want to make sure that you have the right ingredients on hand. Fortunately, most milkshakes are pretty easy to make and require minimal ingredients, and this variation is no exception.

To make this scrumptious eggnog milkshake, you'll need to gather vanilla ice cream, eggnog, freshly grated nutmeg, and a pinch of cinnamon. Now, Shungu notes that you can use nutmeg from a jar, but she thinks it's really worthwhile to go for a fresh option. "Since the recipe is so simple, you can really taste it," she says, referring to freshly grated nutmeg.

In addition, you can optionally top your milkshake with whipped cream, a cinnamon stick, and nutmeg — which, once again, Shungu recommends going with the fresh stuff. With just a handful of ingredients, you can grab your blender, and get ready to make this festive treat!

Blend all of the ingredients together

Like any milkshake, there's one key tool that you'll need to make the magic happen, and that is a trusty blender. Grab your blender of choice, and place it onto your counter. Then, add in the vanilla ice cream, eggnog, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Blend all of these ingredients together, making sure that everything incorporates evenly and that there are no residual chunks of ice cream. "This milkshake tastes like a super creamy glass of eggnog," Shungu describes, and considering all of the ingredients you just threw into a blender, we think her description definitely checks out!

Consider swapping out some ingredients for an exciting twist

Although this milkshake is delicious enough on its own, there's always room for variation in a recipe. For example, Shungu notes that you could easily put a boozy twist on this milkshake. "To make boozy eggnog milkshakes, add 2 to 3 tablespoons of rum or brandy to the blender along with the eggnog and ice cream," she explains.

You may also want to consider embracing another fall favorite flavor — pumpkin — and add a pumpkin pie twist to the milkshake. "You could also add a pumpkin spice twist by blending in ½ teaspoon [of] pumpkin pie spice (in place of the cinnamon) and ½ cup of pumpkin purée," she explains. Sounds pretty good to us!

Garnish your eggnog milkshake, and enjoy

Whether you decide to add a twist to your milkshake or keep it simple, the final step remains the same: Pour your milkshake out from a blender, top with whipped cream, nutmeg, and a cinnamon stick, and enjoy! Shungu particularly loves the nutmeg on top of the whipped cream, as it "makes a really pretty topping for the whipped cream when it's freshly grated."

Now, you may be wondering about pairing options, but once you have a few sips of this decadent treat, you'll realize why Shungu advises to enjoy it as-is. "These milkshakes are quite rich, so I like serving them on their own," she explains. With just a few simple ingredients and just a few minutes of your time, we hope you enjoy this wonderfully festive eggnog milkshake all season long!
