Chef Nick Bonventre's sweet Thai chile wings earned him a win in Tasting Table x Mike's Hard Lemonade's "Backyard Battles" competition.

Ingredients

  • :::For the Sauce:1½ cups ketchup:::
  • 1 jalapeño, chopped
  • Juice of ½ lime
  • 5 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 teaspoons sambal red chile sauce
  • :::For the Wings:6 whole organic wings, shoulder and wing attached:::
  • Chopped scallions, for garnish

Directions

  1. Make the sauce: In a large mixing bowl, mix all of the sauce ingredients together in a large mixing bowl, making sure all parts are integrated well.
  2. Make the wings: Dip the wings into the sauce and grill, 10 minutes or until the chicken reaches 165° in the thickest part of the meat, reapplying the sauce liberally when the wings are flipped or turned.
  3. Garnish with chopped scallions and serve.
