It's officially fall, and to celebrate the season of apples, pumpkins and all things spiced, we've made a cocktail that tastes like apple pie and cognac's love child. Get your jean jackets out of the closet, ignore your anxiety about the looming winter and raise a glass of autumnal bliss.

Ingredients

  • For the Rim
  • 1 teaspoon light brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 lemon wedge
  • For the Cocktail
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 1 ounce Cointreau
  • 1½ ounces Calvados
  • Ice

Directions

  1. On a small plate, combine the sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice. Rub the lemon wedge around the rim of a coupe glass then dip the rim into the spice mixture to coat. Set aside.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine the lemon juice, Cointreau, Calvados and ice, and shake vigorously. Strain into the prepared coupe glass and serve.
