Fancy Cannabis-Infused Chocolate Bars

The latest edibles are gourmet cannabis-infused chocolate bars

Increasingly, marijuana edibles have become a popular alternative to smoking pot. Many choose to consume cannabis in the form of cookies, brownies, gummies, cakes, hard candies and more, because they can't tolerate the smoke. But there can be trade-offs when it comes to smoking vs. snacking, like wondering when an edible is going to kick in or how long the effects are going to last.

Oakland-based company Défoncé Chocolatier wants to ease your "anxiety" about these variables with its latest boutique chocolate bars. At first glance, the packaging suggests a fancy chocolate bar you would pick up at your local gourmet chocolate or coffee shop. But this is not your average candy bar; this high-end chocolate is infused with cannabis grown in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The company takes great pride in the creation of its bars, pairing high-quality cannabis with superb chocolate blended by talented chocolatiers.

In a recent press release, De?fonce? Chocolatier founder Eric Eslao writes, "Both chocolate making and cannabis growing attract thoughtful, passionate artisans, people who dedicate their lives to perfecting their crafts. . . . These new products, the result of intense and wide-ranging culinary research and development in our kitchen, set a new standard for cannabis-infused chocolate."

Consumers can choose from vanilla (white chocolate), matcha (green tea), milk, coffee, mint, dark, hazelnut and dark+. All of the bars are gluten free with the exception of the coffee flavor, and there is even a selection of vegan options. Each full-size bar contains 180 milligrams of THC, divided into 18 squares. Each section is equivalent to one serving, containing 10 milligrams of THC.

So what does this mean for the edibles business? Come November, as California and a number of other states call upon its residents to vote whether or not to legalize the recreational use of marijuana, additional entrepreneurs are sure to jump on the trend. For the time being, Défoncé Chocolatier has all your cannabis needs covered and can be found at licensed dispensaries across California.
