Aldi's Gin Named One Of World's Best
There's no stopping this budget booze brand
OK, that $8 rosé might have been a fluke, and that inexpensive sparkling white—named just as good as ritzier brands—just got a lucky break. But if you still have your head buried against the bar when it comes to the idea that, yes, even budget boozes can keep up with the collector's vintages sitting in your liquor cabinet, we have some news for you.
At the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), Aldi took home yet another top prize, this time for its Oliver Cromwell London dry gin. The rent-week-friendly bottle, which retails for roughly $13 USD, beat out a number of other high-end contenders, including ones that cost four times as much.
According to the Daily Mail, the grocery store picked up a total of 20 medals at the prestigious competition. A representative at the competition spoke highly of the brand, saying, "They [Aldi] consistently showcased high quality products in the blind tastings, which demonstrates that you don't have to compromise on price to enjoy great tasting drinks."
Unfortunately, Aldi's U.S. stores don't carry liquor (yet), but that doesn't stop it from slowly winning our hearts at Trader Joe's.
