What Celebrity Chef Curtis Stone Will Be Serving At The 2022 SAG Awards

Where some might be waiting in anticipation to find out what celebrities will get in their swag bags at every event of awards season, others can't keep their eyes off the dinner plates. And this year, Michelin-starred chef Curtis Stone will be behind the menu for the 28th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, according to a press release received by Tasting Table. If you were lucky enough to be invited, the ceremony is slated to take place at 5:00 p.m. PT on February 27 at The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California; otherwise, you can tune in to see it live on TNT or TBS, or watch on HBO Max the next day.

While Stone is certainly excited and honored to be the executive chef for the event, what might be most notable to some about the menu is the lack of (almost all) animal products and proteins. For his first SAG Awards dinner, Stone is keeping the fine-dining experience local and organic too, but his menu certainly reflects the ever-growing plant-based trend taking root in Hollywood parties.

Stone's menu is following the plant-based trend

If you haven't taken notice, a ton of celebrities are ditching meat. Lizzo, Woody Harlson, Stevie Wonder, Elliot Page, and Peter Dinklage are all among Hollywood's plant-based population, according to Vegan Food and Living. Joaquin Phoenix is also vegan, which most people became aware of after his somewhat controversial 2020 Oscar speech. It was actually Phoenix who convinced at least one of the awards ceremonies, the Golden Globes, to go vegan in 2020, shares LA Magazine. After that, the Critic's Choice Awards and multiple Oscars events went plant-based too. Even Wolfgang Puck's meal at the Governor's Ball was 70% plant-based, and it would seem Stone is taking a similar approach for the SAG Awards.

Chef Stone's menu for the 2022 SAG Awards will include turmeric roasted cauliflower, mint, and quinoa salad; sweet potato with curry, coconut, cilantro, and cucumber; artichoke and mushroom with truffle dressing; and salmon rillettes with lemon, capers, and dill. The menu will be paired with vegan-friendly Champagne Taittinger Brut La Française and two vegan wines from Cooper's Hawk.
