Old Bay Lovers Won't Want To Miss McCormick's Boozy New Collab

In a press release, George's Beverage Company and McCormick's Old Bay announced a new collaboration that is bringing Old Bay Vodka to consumers. Made at McClintock Distilling in Frederick, Maryland, the statement shares that Old Bay Vodka is distilled six times to ensure "purity and smoothness." The alcohol is 70 proof (or 35% ABV), and flavored like Old Bay's signature spice blend for an unexpected savory taste. Distributed by Breakthru Beverage MD and Breakthru Beverage DE, the new flavored vodka is (judging from the product images) available in 750 milliliter bottles.

According to the press release, Old Bay Vodka is said to taste like "the region." It recommends consumers sip it "on or off the rocks or as a unique ingredient upgrade for classic cocktails and alcohol-infused recipes alike." The Old Bay Vodka website shares a ton of recipes using the strange liquor, ranging from cocktails to dishes like Old Bay Martini Salsa and gnocchi in an Old Bay vodka sauce.

Instagram is pretty excited about the new Old Bay vodka

The official Old Bay Seasoning Instagram account shared the news with fans on March 3, and understandably, plenty of people had thoughts to share.

Some suggested cocktails they think would work well with the new vodka, including fashion designer Alana Hadid, who was among those excited for the new spirit. Hadid wrote, "Omg!!!! Perfect for a Bloody Mary." Another Old Bay fan concurred with the suggestion, commenting, "my bloody Mary's [sic] and dirty martinis will be even more amazing!!" with a lot of fire emojis. But cocktails weren't the only thing on Old Bay fans' minds. A hopeful Instagrammer wrote, "now it's time for an Old Bay Goldfish," which could be a great bar snack to pair with the new vodka.

Unfortunately for some, according to the post the spirit will only be available in Maryland and Delaware. For true Old Bay fans, it may be wise to take one Instagrammer's advice and "book that trip home y'all!!"
