A New Chicken Option Is Coming To Chipotle's Menu
For Mexican-style food in a hurry, Chipotle — the Denver, Colorado-founded fast-casual chain serving quesadillas, tacos, burritos, and burrito bowls — is a popular resturant choice. With more than 2,900 locations across the globe, diners appreciate its commitment to serving food made with fresh, quality ingredients like hormone-free meat and local produce. Chipotle locations offer proteins like chicken, steak, barbacoa, and carnitas on the menu, and today the chain announced in a press release that a second chicken option will be joining that lineup: pollo asado.
According to the press release, pollo asado is Chipotle's first chicken variation in the company's 29-year history, offering a new flavor profile for fans of the chain's poultry. Chipotle chief marketing officer Chris Brandt shares chicken is the most popular protein with customers, so we understand why the chain would choose to expand this option with a new style.
Pollo asado is spiced, seared, and marinated
According to the press release, Chipotle's new pollo asado protein will be available for a limited time only in the U.S. and Canada. The new chicken variety is made fresh daily by searing spiced chicken on the flattop and then hand-chopping the meat before mixing it into a "bright marinade" featuring garlic, guajillo chiles, cilantro, and fresh lime (via Chipotle). An option for any dish on the Chipotle menu (including kids' meals), the new pollo asado aims to please fans of the chain's standard Adobo chicken option.
Brandt continued in the press release, "We're thrilled to introduce fans to another flavor of chicken that brings a whole new dimension to any Chipotle order and will certainly be a crowd pleaser."
The chain is celebrating this nationwide launch by offering free delivery to customers who order the new chicken option online or via the Chipotle app. U.S. customers can look for the offer from March 14 through March 20, while Canadian diners can take advantage of it from March 13 through March 20.
