Recipe developer Jaime Shelbert of Wholly Nourished came up with this delicious dessert. "If you're craving cake, you can have one in less than 5 minutes!" Shelbert raves. We would have to agree that it's pretty spectacular, and seems like pure magic to have a cake ready so fast. Shelbert says she came up with this recipe because of a TikTok trend — you've gotta love the things you can learn on the internet!

Gather the ingredients for your Oreo mug cake

This recipe is one of the easiest that you can make, and all you will need are two, yes two, ingredients. Head to the store and pick up some Oreos and 2% milk. If you'd like to jazz up your mug cake a bit, you can also purchase whipped cream, ice cream, and chocolate shavings to go on top.

Once you have those items, you can whip up your mug cake in no time.

Blend the Oreos

Grab a food processor and your 6 Oreos. Place the Oreos inside the food processor and process until no cookie chunks remain. The result should be a grainy, sand-like consistency.

If you don't have a food processor, that's not a problem. "You can crush the Oreos in a plastic Ziplock bag using a rolling pin if you don't have a food processor," Shelbert shares.

Place the Oreos in the mug and add milk

Transfer the Oreos to a microwave-safe mug — Shelbert shares it should be able to hold at least 10-12 ounces. Pour the 2% milk over the ground Oreos and use a spoon to mix the two together. "[You can use] any milk for this recipe, including non-dairy," Shelbert shares. This is great if you have a strong milk preference, so you're not strapped down to just one option.

Microwave the mixture

Pop the mug into the microwave and set your timer for 75-90 seconds. The cook time will depend on your microwave since they all vary just a bit. When the cake is done cooking, the center should be set.

Serve and enjoy

Once you remove the mug from the microwave, let it cool and use caution so you don't burn your hands on the hot glass. Then, add your extra toppings, like shaved chocolate, ice cream, and whipped cream, if desired. Shelbert also provides a few additional serving suggestions to take this cake up a notch and make it look really pretty. "Chocolate chips, peanut butter chips or nuts would be great ... but I'm more about the toppings! Use powdered sugar, ice cream, whipped cream, sprinkles, berries, chocolate syrup or any other favorite," Shelbert says.

And given that this recipe makes a single serving, it's unlikely there will be leftovers. But if there are? "Leftovers keep in the fridge for 3 days," Shelbert says.

We hope this chocolatey cake hits the spot!
