30 Dutch Bros Secret Menu Items You Won't Want To Miss
If you have not indulged in a beverage from the incredible coffee chain Dutch Bros, you are surely missing out. According to the company's information, founders Dane and Travis Boersma started Dutch Bros Coffee in 1992 in Grants Pass, Oregon. The chain grew quickly in popularity and has since opened more locations throughout the Pacific Northwest and Southwest regions of the United States. Dutch Bros can be sipped from more than 400+ blue and grey stands across nine Western states, making it the country's largest privately held drive-thru coffee company.
Like many other caffeine chains, Dutch Bros offers more than coffee, energy drinks, teas, and blended beverages that border on milkshakes. A quick peek at the Dutch Frost menu shows that the dessert drink comes in nearly 100 varieties. We love options and fun drink combinations, so we took great pleasure in scouring around for any secret menu items we could find. However, our curious coffee search wasn't the first to discover these drinks. A few items have been popular enough to secure permanent spots on the menu — but, many still haven't. Here's a clue for figuring out the Dutch Bros secret menu items you shouldn't miss.
Raspberry Vanilla Chai
Move over Starbucks Pink Drink. Dutch Bros Raspberry Vanilla Chai packs a tasty and sweet punch. The chain offers an array of chai beverages, and as they like to say on their website, "Chai it your way." Don't mind if we do, Dutch Bros.
We opted for the iced version because something about raspberry gives us all the refresher vibes, and we could not imagine steaming a fruit for our beverage. The secret here is that this beverage consists of Dutch Bros standard Vanilla Chai mixed with raspberry syrup (and your choice of milk or alternative). This drink offers an incredibly sweet (from the raspberry) and warmly spiced (from the chai) mix. If you love a chai latte, give this fresh choice a try.
Kings of Leon
Are you feeling rebellious? Need a jump start? If so, check out the Dutch Bros-invented Rebel Energy drink line, a buzzy beverage made customizable to your tastes. According to Caffeine Informer, the Dutch Bros Rebel Energy is a proprietary energy drink with around 80 milligrams of caffeine per can. It may feel strange to order an energy drink from a java shop — you know, instead of a coffee — but let us explain. The Kings of Leon variation includes kiwi, orange, and lime, giving it quite a vibrant appearance. Prepare for your taste buds to get a burst of fruity flavor and your body to be jolted by the energy propelled through this Rebel iced beverage. Despite looking like a parrot, this drink does not disappoint in taste or power.
Caramel Nog
You might get a festive feeling when you try out this secret menu item, coming to you from a Dutch Bros in Elk Ridge. If you love holiday drinks, add the Dutch Bros Caramel Nog to your seasonal beverage rotation. To achieve this creation, order a caramel latte, or espresso-based drink but ask your "Broista," (yes, this is the real title your barista has taken on), to sub the cream with eggnog. This little switcheroo makes a world of difference. Each gulp tastes of the season's greetings, with warm spices and smooth eggnog to fully compliment the sugary, silky caramel flavoring. This beverage is simple enough as a morning pick-me-up or sweet enough to be an after-meal treat.
The Fleck
Introducing The Fleck, a classic breve, which Roasty Coffee defines as an espresso beverage with half-and-half in place of whole (or alternative) milk. Think of it as a richer version of a latte and a very unique type of coffee. And, when you think of a breve at Dutch Bros, consider the Fleck, which features the addition of white chocolate, coconut, and hazelnut. This secret menu variation offers an even silkier take on an original American style of drink.
The Fleck adds extra sweetness to your new favorite espresso beverage (via Cosmopolitan). With the mix of smooth white chocolate and creamy coconut, your taste buds will be overwhelmed with a dreamy, tropical twist to a certain hazelnut spread, and all this is in one mouthful. If you'd like to sneak away for a sweet drink and an island vacation, The Fleck should be added to your own secret menu.
Snickerdoodle Breve
Many Dutch Bros secret menu drinks grew in popularity to the point that they landed on the permanent menu. Cosmopolitan coined it the "not-so-secret" menu for this exact reason. The Snickerdoodle Breve is one of those drinks, and it is clear to see why. The combination of flavors is a regular on the Dutch Bros menu, but the drink style is a secret offer.
Picture your favorite cinnamon snickerdoodle cookie. You just pulled it from the oven and it's so soft it melts in your mouth, turning into liquid form. That's what the Snickerdoodle Breve is. Being a breve, this again means the Snickerdoodle is an espresso-based beverage with half-and-half. According to our search for "snickerdoodle" on the Dutch Bros site, your Broista doctors the breve by adding three syrups to the drink: chocolate macadamia nut, cinnamon, and white chocolate. Then, they top it with cinnamon sprinkles. No syrup overpowers another, but we especially love the warm, spiced flavor of this beverage, which stands out like a fresh dessert.
Tiger's Blood Lemonade
You likely watched the Tiger King, but have you ever ordered a Tiger's Blood Lemonade from Dutch Bros? We hadn't either, so this drink especially piqued our curiosity. When ordered, this secret menu item gives off an, "I'm feeling pretty cool vibe," and we are here for it. The beverage's name gives it an intense persona, but the drink itself is pretty laid back. The Tiger's Blood Lemonade combines strawberry and coconut lemonade to give a fruity, tropical island flavor to a drink you won't want to pass on. The lemonade adds a touch of tartness which makes for a sip as lush as a tiger's terrain.
Islander Breve
Speaking of the tropics, the following need-to-know on our list of Dutch Bros secret menu items is the Islander Breve. Cosmopolitan lists the ingredients of this drink to include chocolate macadamia nut, vanilla, and coconut, so you'll feel like that gulp you just took has transported you to a sandy paradise. It's even the color of a soft brown beach. If we had to rate it, this trifecta is a three chef's (or should we say Broista's) kiss! It's relaxing to know that such a delicious coastal getaway can be enjoyed from a cup and in an iced, hot, or blended form. You can sip on the sweet side of summer all year long, no matter what the temperature is outside.
Ray of Sunshine
Grab your sunglasses and prepare to be dazzled by the Ray of Sunshine. This Dutch Bros secret menu, recommended by a location in Prescott, Arizona, pairs well with a salad, sandwich, and a dazzling moment in the sun. We will undoubtedly bring one of these along for our next beach day.
The Ray of Sunshine combines slightly tart ingredients, like blackberry and grapefruit, with luxuriously juicy peach. The result is a fruity and appetizing addition to the standard, slight bitterness that plain green tea has. Many Dutch Bros drinks started from the bottom and made it to the top of the actual menu, so although this item is deemed a secret offering, it can often be found as a featured drink item in the warmer months. We love to see it when the underdog shines like a ray of sun.
Golden Eagle Breve
This next drink flew from a secret menu item to a permanent fixture among the in-crowds at Dutch Bros. You can find the Golden Eagle Breve under the Dutch Bros classics since, according to Delish, it is one of the most popular drinks at the chain. Golden eagles have long wingspans, this one is using them to take off.
The Golden Eagle Breve features a breve mixed with vanilla and caramel flavorings and then drizzled with caramel surrounding the cup. This decadent drink is more like a dessert than a quencher, but it will have you coming back for another sip again and again. Choose to top it with whipped cream and enjoy hot, iced, or blended. It doesn't take an eagle-eyed taster to see it's a fantastic treat for any time of day.
The Cherry Blossom
Cherry blossoms bloom in the spring, so the timing of our next secret menu item launch fits the bill. The Cherry Blossom burst onto the secret menu in Spring 2019, according to word from a Dutch Bros outlet in Newport. The flavors are bright and do not disappoint. This creation combines white chocolate and cherry to make a toothsome, creamy punch in every sip.
You can enjoy the Cherry Blossom's flavors in any form, but we recommend a blended Rebel for optimal caffeine impact. We can imagine how this variation would be a crowd favorite, especially with energy drink lovers. Dutch Bros offers all Rebel beverages in a sugar-free option that we can appreciate. If you want something lightly sweet and fully energizing, the Cherry Blossom is for you.
Trifecta Freeze
Are you looking for a dessert or coffee? You might think Starbucks Frappuccinos have an exclusive claim to this category, but Dutch Bros says otherwise. After ordering this next secret menu item, we couldn't decide what category the drink fell. We suppose that means it is the best of both. The Trifecta Freeze looks like a milkshake and has a similar sugary sweetness to it. The flavors are a classic combination.
The Trifecta Freeze combines a rich blend of dark and white chocolate with caramel blended into a cold, silky freeze. The Dutch Bros Freeze line is a menu of drinks made from coffee blended with whatever flavor combination your heart desires. As for the Trifecta Freeze, chocolate and caramel are decadent in the best ways and certain to cure any sweet tooth. It's so good that you can now find it on the full menu.
White Zombie Breve
Our next secret menu item rises from the dead every Fall season, giving us an adult reason to anticipate Halloween and spooky treats. Like many other popular coffee chains, Dutch Bros has an Autumn rollout of Fall-inspired drinks. However, as of last year, the White Zombie Breve wasn't included. This leaves us with some haunting suspicions. Is it because the flavors are brain-consuming? Only the greatest fans know when the drink is offered, but we keep a close eye on the chain's Instagram accounts to know when we should race to our local Dutch Bros.
This zombie-themed drink combines three monster flavors: vanilla, chocolate, and of course, coffee. When you're feeling like a zombie while walking into work, or you need an afternoon pick me up to give you life, the White Zombie Breve is scary good at doing both. Plus, vanilla and chocolate are classic favorites that we suggest you order year-round.
The Grasshopper Mocha
Complete transparency with this beverage: We found the name slightly off-putting and didn't know what to expect regarding The Grasshopper Mocha. A creepy crawler-inspired drink? No thanks.
Fortunately, there wasn't anything that actually bugged us about this beverage, which we found through a Dutch Bros in Fresno. In fact, it kind of made us sing. The Grasshopper adds mint into your classic chocolate mocha, which gave all the green vibes and fits right into your regular drink lineup when St. Patrick's Day rolls around. A typical mocha layers espresso, milk, and chocolate, but no need to wonder where the grasshopper fits into the equation. The herbal mint makes for a leafy green aspect to the drink.
If you like a touch of mint in your ice cream, you'll probably fall in love with having a hint of it in your coffee.
Kicker Cold Brew
If you prefer your cold brew to come with a pop, prepare yourself for this iced option, a former heavyweight of the secret menu. The Kicker Cold Brew combines Irish cream syrup, standard cream, and Dutch Bros' own nitro cold brew. The silky nitro combination landed a place on the permanent menu, and we're guessing it's because fans could not get enough of something so smooth.
This cold brew is not for the faint of heart. It packs a creamy, java-packed punch, and we loved that every sip brings a little rush of excitement (or is it the caffeine?). Healthline writes that nitro coffee often has more caffeine than a normal cold brew, so the name Kicker seems right. The Irish cream syrup differentiates the beverages from other cold brews with a salty sweetness. It also provides the perfect silky topping for the type of smooth days you deserve.
Marmalade Paris Tea
We're switching gears with our next secret menu item. Let's move from a jolt-inducing coffee to the quenching goodness of iced tea. Dutch Bros tea beverages start with your base choice of high-quality, refreshingly organic green or Paris black tea. Then, the drink is infused with the flavors of your choice. The Marmalade Paris tea combines three citrusy flavors: orange, ruby red grapefruit, and sweet strawberry (via Cosmopolitan).
The Marmalade Paris tea is as bright as the City of Lights. This tea makes a restorative glass in a hot minute and serves as the perfect companion for a day in the sand, sun, or a drive with the windows down. If you like the flavor profile of drinks like passion tea, lemonade, or citrus-based juice, this Dutch Bros choice is a towering substitute.
Birthday Cake Frost
With the Birthday Frost, you can have your cake and eat it too. This blended drink will make you feel like it's a time of celebration all year round. The Dutch Bros Birthday Cake Frost puts a sprinkled spin on the coffee house's classic milkshake-like Frost menu line, which is truly massive and includes eccentric names like Galaxy Fish, Fire Lizard, and Flap Jack. The Birthday Frost is fairly straightforward, though. In addition to the sprinkles, almond Roca and white chocolate create a silky mouthfeel and flavor that mimics a funfetti cake. Whether it's your birthday or you feel the need to commemorate a random morning, treat yourself to a Birthday Cake flavored Frost.
French Toast Breve
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, which is why we feel so strongly about the Dutch Bros French Toast Breve. Nothing is more important to breakfast than coffee, after all. This drink combines two iconic morning fixes: A hot cup of coffee, and a steaming stack of french toast. Of course, you can order this breve iced or blended if you would like, but it has to be hot for us. Wide Open Eats even suggests ordering the French Toast Breve as a mocha. Chocolate french toast? That's a great idea.
The French Toast Breve first appeared on social media around 2016, and though it's now a well-known offering, it remains an unlisted secret. Prepare your tastebuds for a mix of cinnamon, brown sugar, and earthy coffee in one delicious cup. We will warn you — the French Toast Breve might make the Dutch Bros secret menu a morning habit of yours.
Palm Beach Lemonade
Transport yourself to a beach for spring break with the Palm Beach Lemonade, which comes to us via Dutch Bros of Elk Grove, before becoming a full menu item. This drink combines pomegranate and peach-flavored lemonade in an iced or blended form for a tangy, refreshing treat. With flavors as unique and lush as these two fruits have, it's no surprise why this was made a permanent fixture for the coffee chain.
If you want to spice up this beverage, ask your barista to "make it shine." According to a Dutch Bros press release, drinks that shine contain edible sparkles to light up your beverage. We love a drink that looks good and tastes good too. This lemonade compliments all the sunshine, smiles, and snacks your heart desires.
Ba-Nay-Na
It's an oldie, but goodie combination: The creamy flavors of chocolate and banana go together like few foods do. We're reminiscing about one of our favorite childhood snacks when we take a sip of this frosted drink. Coming from Dutch Bros Newport, the Ba-Nay-Nay's perfect blend of dark chocolate and sweet fruit makes us as excited as a Banana in Pajamas.
We love how the flavor duo comes through in twin pops with every sip. It's hard to decide if this drink can really be classified under the coffee category, but what it is doesn't really matter. It's delicious nonetheless. You're going to want to drink, drink, drink this coffee Ba-Nay-Nay.
White Coffee Cookie
What if you were to combine your morning coffee and pastry into one cup? The consistency might be off, but the flavors sound like a dream, right? Well, you no longer have to wonder. The White Coffee Cookie provides just that and is the perfect treat for your morning sweet tooth. We love this charm on occasion, though in the end, it does taste a bit too much like dessert for breakfast!
The White Coffee Cookie unites flavors of velvety white chocolate and woodsy chocolate macadamia nut, combined with delicious coffee. It's a smooth beverage if you can handle the caffeination. Thrillest exclaims that this drink satisfies a wide variety of palates, but we find it on the specific side. So, consider adding it to the special occasion rotation or the days when you need a sweet brew.
Gummy Bear Rebel
Even as adults, gummy bears continue to be one of our favorite snacks, so we were thrilled to try the Gummy Bear Rebel drink from Dutch Bros. The Tasting Table team is no stranger to Dutch Bros and Gummy Bears, however, because we have tasted the OG Gummy Bear Dutch Soda, a combination of fruity syrups (pomegranate, passion fruit, grapefruit, and watermelon), plus sparkling soda water topped with whipped cream. According to a social media post from the Dutch Bros in Vacaville, California, this Gummy Bear Soda has the added spark of Rebel energy.
This is a Blue Rebel that mixes sweet and sour with a caffeine kick. The combination almost allows you to imagine a chewy mouthful of sweet candies, and while you might not be snacking, we find this Gummy Bear energy drink offering from Dutch Bros rather unique, and one of our favorite secret menu variations.
Picture Perfect
With the rise of social media over the last decade, we have noticed more photogenic food and drinks offered at restaurants, coffee shops, and chains. Phone eats first, as they say! Dutch Bros is a trendy shop, no different than many other photo-worthy stops you might take. Considering this, you can expect a Picture Perfect drink here too.
Once a secret menu item, it grew so much in popularity (likely thanks to social media) that the Picture Perfect now resides on the permanent menu. Think of the Picture Perfect treatment being like a filter for your favorite Frost, regular coffee, or special Freeze (via Dutch Bros of Moscow, Idaho). Ordering a Picture Perfect will upgrade your cup by topping it with caramel, a dark chocolate drizzle, and whipped cream. It looks like a snack and tastes like a coffee dessert.
Double Rainbro Rebel
We love a drink that tastes as good as it looks. The Double Rainbro catches your eye and satisfies your thirst on a hot summer day. Per an Albany, Oregon-based Dutch Bros, the Double Rainbro consists of strawberry, peach, and coconut syrups. Call those flavors the quenchers, then top them with a can of Rebel energy drink for a fruity jolt of energy. Talk about a fruity punch here.
According to comments from Thrillest, the Double Rainbro became a secret item favorite shortly only once the many Dutch Broistas across the country had had enough time to experiment after the release of the Rebel Energy line in 2012. So, if you're in the mood to test out a new combination yourself one day, give this caffeinated and fruity beverage a try. All the java might leave you seeing double.
Pink Flamingo Frost
Next on our list is a vibrant pink drink known as the Pink Flamingo Frost. Per details from the corporate Dutch Bros account, your barista will make this delectable beverage by combining strawberry, peach, and white chocolate syrups, before dressing it with a swirl of whipped cream. Technically you have to add these syrups to a blended drink for the full Pink Flamingo Frost effect, but the concoction has the silky, sweet profile to be just as delicious in an iced coffee too. Regardless, the combination of syrups will provide a vibrant pink hue and delicious chocolate strawberry flavor.
If you could blend Valentine's Day in a cup we imagine it would taste something like a Pink Flamingo Frost, however, we plan on drinking it at all times of year.
Dirty Caterpillar
Hello, Dirty Caterpillar. With a name like that, we hesitated to try this beverage. Similar to another buggy secret menu item counterpart (the Grasshopper Mocha) the color and name did not have us initially thrilled for a taste test. Crickets are known to be lucky, but apparently dirty caterpillars should be too.
As it happens, we think this could use some rebranding. The Dutch Bros of Woodland, California says this drink blends caramel and apple to create a sweet and spiced smoothie. Maybe secret menu fans should call it a Caramel Green Apple Frost because those are the primary flavors that create this delicious drink. The Dirty Caterpillar tastes so beautiful you'll definitely start wondering where the caterpillar comes into play. This drink is more like a butterfly.
Toasted Mellow Mocha
Introducing the most nostalgic drink of the summer! The Toasted Mellow Mocha reminds us of summer camp days as a child, or really any of the time we've spent sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows. The Toasted Mellow Mocha is more than just a secret menu memory — it's a Dutch Bros regular menu favorite now. This beverage combines vanilla syrup, chocolate macadamia nut syrup, and chocolate milk to achieve the gooey smoothness of s'mores in a cup. It's sweet but not overpowering, and we can't stop after a few sips. This cold brew will elevate your coffee time into reminiscing about moments at the lake or telling tales next to the fire. Just like a good ghost story, the extra pop of cold brew caffeine can keep you up at all hours.
Cotton Candy Frost
When we go to an amusement park or county fair, we can't help but try all the fried food and sweet treats. Cotton candy is one of our most serious weaknesses. This once-secret menu turned permanent drink item satisfies the craving for carnival food like no other. If you want to curb your sweet craving, order the Cotton Candy Frost.
This dessert creation gets its appearance and flavors from sweet, tart, and velvet-like contrasts of blue raspberry syrup, and white chocolate sauce topped with whipped cream, per the Dutch Bros menu. As you can imagine this gives it the same delicious flavors as your favorite tower of cotton candy. This Frost popped up as a National Cotton Candy Day feature way back in 2015, and these days it lives on the full menu. We're glad, because it means we can channel our inner child by enjoying some cotton candy in a cup!
Molten Lava Mocha
When we say this next drink is fire, we mean it. The Molten Lava Mocha takes your favorite chocolate lava cake dessert and plops it (along with some cinnamon) right into a delicious coffee drink. This Dutch Bros outlet in Rocklin, California labels the drink a combination of dark chocolate and cinnamon. As with all foods oozing this much flavor, the Molten Lava Mocha is no longer a secret.
Few things compare to the chocolate and cinnamon combination. Dutch Bros packs them both into a delicious sippable dessert — we mean drink. This sugary creation is sweet as can be, which makes us question whether it's appropriate to drink this before breakfast. Still, our recommendation is to order it. You only live once.
Electric Berry Green Tea
When it comes to ordering a fun drink, the brighter, the better, right? Yes, in the case of our next drink, the Electric Berry Green Tea. This eye-catching blended beverage mixes raspberry and lime in the Dutch Bros classic cold green tea. It's the perfect refreshing beverage for a pool day, picnic, or keeping your cool in the dog park.
With electric in the name, we assumed a Rebel energy drink would be involved. To our dismay, this drink only consists of fruit, lime, and tea. Unfortunately, that means there's no extra voltage here, folks. Healthline says that there is enough caffeine in green tea to give you a small kick (35 milligrams per 8 ounces), but if you need a true shock to your system, we suggest grabbing a Rebel beverage to top this off with.
Unicorn Blood Blended Rebel
Last on our secret-menu items roundup, but certainly not least, is the Unicorn Blood Blended Rebel. If you have not gathered by now, Dutch Bros sets itself apart from other coffee chains with these energy drink additions. The chain could have easily carried one of the top energy drink brands such as Red Bull or Monster for use in their house beverages, but creating and using a proprietary mix of their own has given a lot of new possibilities to their menu.
Unicorn Blood can be found in many forms on the Dutch Bros menu. To craft this majestic beverage, the barista adds strawberry and almond syrups, white chocolate sauce, and a Rebel energy drink. What makes it a secret menu addition, rather than a standard, is your choice to have it blended. This version of the Unicorn Blood resembles sherbet ice cream, and we aren't mad about it. The Blended Rebel is not your average drink, and with Unicorn Blood, it's especially unique and delicious.
