Jose Cuervo Wants To Tip Your Bartender This Cinco De Mayo

As we all weathered the highs and lows of the pandemic, we could count on a smile and a much-needed beverage served by our favorite bartender at the local drinking hole while the people mixing our cocktails were counting on our tips to stay afloat. Jose Cuervo understands the plight of the humble bartender and is willing to lend patrons a hand that stretches to the tip jar with their new promotion.

Bartenders, unofficially known as alcohol-slinging therapists, are always there to lend an ear and pour a shot. In a press release, Jose Cuervo announced that it plans to help bar patrons "Tip It Forward" by giving $10 to tequila lovers, hoping that money will find its way into deserving bartenders' pockets. Those pockets could use some extra cash, as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics states that the average bartender makes just $14.59 an hour.

Bar & Restaurant notes that being a bartender is a high-stress job, especially in popular places and during holidays. Jose Cuervo knows that Cinco de Mayo is fast approaching, and maybe bartender burnout won't be so bad with a big tip as a chaser.

Jose Cuervo will match donations to non-profit benefiting bartenders

Bartenders everywhere will soon be chopping limes, salting glass rims, and mixing margaritas in preparation for Cinco de Mayo. Womply says it's the second biggest holiday for bar business in the U.S., with every state posting higher than average revenue. Jose Cuervo knows that bartenders will be working overtime and in addition to encouraging higher than average tips with its "Tip It Forward" promo, the tequila company will make a hefty donation to a non-profit supporting service industry professionals.

In a press release, Jose Cuervo stated that it would match donations up to $100,000 to the Another Round Another Rally organization. The non-profit provides scholarships, grants, and emergency assistance to hospitality industry workers who have fallen on hard times. Supporting the organization serves as another way for Jose Cuervo to show its support for bartenders.

From April 28 through May 5, up to 10,000 tequila fans will be eligible to receive $10 from Jose Cuervo so they can tip big on Cinco de Mayo. Participants can register on Jose Cuervo's "Tip It Forward" site, and winners selected at random will receive their future bartender's tip through Venmo before the giveaway ends on May 5 at 9 p.m. EST.
