According to TripAdvisor, Doud's Market is the number one specialty food market in Mackinac Island, Michigan. It is also one of the oldest grocery stores in America. Reviews of the food market on TripAdvisor are nearly all positive, with the store's ranking of 4.5 stars. One reviewer raves, "You can get anything you want at Doud's Market! Doud's has been a staple on Mackinac Island for decades and is well-stocked."
According to the store's website, Doud's Market was established in 1884, stocking its shelves and providing quality customer service now for over 130 years. Per WRKR 107.7 FM, the family-run grocery store was opened by brothers James and Patrick Doud of Mackinac Island. They originally named the store Doud's Bros., then the name was changed to Doud's Mercantile. Today, the fourth generation owner, Andrew Doud, operates Doud's Market. Customers can take a walk through Doud's history while shopping by looking at historic images of the store which line its walls.
