The Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte Price Increase You Should Expect
As the summer season winds down and the first hints of cool autumn weather creep in, pumpkin spice latte fans are rejoicing at the popular drink's return.
Starbucks is bringing back the Pumpkin Spice Latte — aka the PSL — with its 2022 debut on Tuesday, August 30, along with two other drinks to round out its fall menu, according to the Starbucks website. This will be the 19th year that Starbucks offers the drink. And, as always, whether your order it hot, iced, or blended, you can top your latte with whipped cream and pumpkin pie spice for maximum PSL immersion.
Inflation has been hitting the food industry hard, with many restaurants increasing their menu prices to keep up with supply costs. Coffee, especially, has increased in price over the last few years. It looks like Starbucks is no exception, as the fall favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte is expected to cost a little bit extra this year.
What might the Pumpkin Spice Latte cost?
Even though it is a seasonal drink, the Pumpkin Spice Latte holds its slot as one of the most beloved drinks at Starbucks. Still, the average price of a Pumpkin Spice Latte will increase around 4% from last year's cost, according to CNN Business, with a grande size of the hot beverage costing somewhere between $5.45 and $5.95, depending on the Starbucks location.
Starbucks has been steadily increasing its prices due to inflation, reports CBS News. They state that in 2021, a venti-sized brewed coffee cost $2.45. That price jumped to $2.95 for the same product in February 2022. CBS also reports that despite price increases, Starbucks has not seen a decrease in customers — revenue actually jumped up 19% in the last quarter.
Despite the price increase, Pumpkin Spice Latte fanatics will no doubt still enjoy an occasional treat. CNN reports that Starbucks has sold over 600 million Pumpkin Spice Lattes since the drink premiered.
