The Ben & Jerry's Flavor You Can Only Find In Texas
When you have an ice cream flavor named after Jimmy Fallon's pride and joy, aka "The Tonight Show," you know you've stumbled upon a truly one-of-a-kind brand. But a pint of "The Tonight Dough" is just one of many flavors that Ben & Jerry's has creatively swirled together.
Aside from classics like Phish Food and Caramel Chocolate Cheesecake, Ben & Jerry's has also dabbled in "Core" and "Topped" ice cream varieties. Their "Core" series features a center of decadent flavors like brownie batter, soft caramel, or chocolate chip cookie dough, and surrounding that is plenty of ice cream and toppings. Or, if you're looking for extra toppings upon opening the lid, their "Topped" series certainly hits this spot. Ice cream flavors like Tiramisu and Whiskey Biz are literally topped with ganache and chunks of fudge and are certainly made for those who can handle such heightened levels of richness.
But unless you live in Texas, you might be unaware of one particular Ben & Jerry's flavor, which boasts a little bit of booze.
A take on pecan pie
If you're a fan of pecan pie, bourbon, and whiskey, then head to Texas stat, because it's the only state where you can find Ben & Jerry's Bourbon Pecan Pie ice cream.
Here's the low down: The ice cream tastes like buttery bourbon and it's mixed with whiskey caramel sauce, pecans, and shortbread cookie chunks. So it's basically like a spiked pecan pie ice cream with tons of textures and nutty caramel notes.
A press release states that Ben & Jerry's launched a tour around Texas called "Texas Churned," where they served up two unique flavors — Bourbon Pecan Pie and Bar-B-Que Peach with ancho chili-infused caramel sauce — and polled fans about which they preferred. The former won by a 79% margin and can now be found in Texas grocery stores and scoop shops in certain cities.
So if you ever get the chance to visit Texas in the future, skip the smoked brisket and red chili and make a beeline for an ice cream flavor that's boozy, dreamy, and reminiscent of pecan pie.
