Katie is an award-winning journalist who has worked as a professional writer for more than a decade. Initially, Katie wrote for several local Twin Cities community magazines, highlighting the uniqueness of local restaurants, community leaders, events, and organizations, before moving to Washington, D.C., to cover politics and other legal issues for trade publications. Katie joined a San Diego-based nonprofit in 2018, where she wrote blogs, podcasts, and YouTube videos and created original infographics. Aware of the role psychology plays when it comes to our decision-making — especially decisions about food and money — Katie became certified as a spiritual life coach, astrologer, and breathwork practitioner in 2020. She joined Static Media in 2025 and continues her search for the perfect chewy chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Education

Katie has a bachelor's degree in communications and journalism and a minor in psychology from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. She is also an ICF-certified spiritual life coach, consulting astrologer, and breathwork practitioner.
