Video: How To Easily Cube Watermelon
Cubing watermelon made simple with a few key slices
As summer looms with its promise of hot days and lots of picnics, we bet there's at least one or two watermelon salads in your future. As you heave a watermelon the size of a small toddler into your shopping cart you're likely not thinking about the work required to break down all that fruit. Luckily, cubing watermelon is simple to hack with just a few key moves. Here's how to do it:
First, slice the melon in half crosswise. Then halve it again lengthwise to split it into quarters. Working with one quarter at a time, make vertical cuts of equal length through the melon. Then cut horizontally without slicing all the way through. Turn the melon around and make horizontal cuts on the other side. Lastly, run the knife along the rind to release the melon flesh. Repeat with the remaining quarters and consider that melon hacked.
