Crisp And Gingery Green Juice Recipe
Green juice is a great way to kick-start your morning, though there is no wrong time to bust out this crisp and gingery green juice. The recipe takes your average juice drink from drab to fab and is much tastier than the bottled stuff from the store. It's filled with plenty of fresh produce and is something you can feel good about putting in your body. While the recipe uses a juicer, you can make it in your blender, making it similar to the ever-popular green smoothie.
Kale and spinach contribute to the juice's green color, and both ingredients are packed with benefits. According to Healthline, kale is one of the most nutrient-dense foods you can eat, and loaded with antioxidants. As for spinach? Healthline reports that the leafy veggie is filled with various vitamins and may help prevent cancer and regulate blood pressure.
Recipe developer Catherine Brookes of Blue Sky Eating came up with this easy and delicious green juice recipe to make you feel healthy and energized. "This juice is so refreshing and packed full of goodness! I love to drink it alongside breakfast or as a mid-morning snack," Brookes raves. Her explanation of the beverage's wonderful flavor is enough to make your mouth water. "There's the fresh taste of the greens, sweetness from the apple and pineapple, and a nice bit of warmth from the ginger," Brookes explains.

Gather the ingredients for gingery green juice
For this recipe, you can find most of the ingredients in the produce section of your local grocery store. Be sure to pick up lemon, green apples, curly kale, and spinach — some of which give this drink its bright green appearance. You will also need pineapple, celery, and a piece of fresh ginger.
"I like to use a small sharp knife to slice away the skin from the outside of the ginger," Brookes says of prepping the fresh root for juicing. Another small note? Be sure to rinse all of the produce really well so it's clean before you toss it into the juicer.
Once you have those items, you can whip up this crisp and gingery green smoothie.
Prep the lemon and apples
Take out a cutting board, knife, and the lemon and apples. First, remove the skin from the lemon, leaving only the flesh. Brookes explains the best way to do this, "No need to remove the lemon seeds here. Simply slice the lemon half into two quarters, and the skin should peel off easily."
Next, place the two green apples on the cutting board and slice them into wedges. You don't need to peel the skin off of the apples. Since you don't need the cores, you can toss them into the trash.
Juice the ingredients
Take out the curly kale and spinach, and put them in an electric juicer. Then, add the remaining ingredients, including the lemon, pineapple, celery, and ginger. "I don't tend to cut celery before juicing," Brookes notes. "I simply push each stick straight down into the juicer." Brookes also shares tips for the greens, "When it comes to juicing the kale and spinach, I like to place [these] in the juicer first and then use the other fruits and veggies to push it down."
No juicer? No problem. "Alternatively, you can blend the ingredients in a jug blender and strain out the juice through a cheesecloth," Brookes notes. "If using a blender and straining the liquid out, you should still get the same amount of juice as long as you're straining effectively," she adds.
Serve and enjoy
Once all the veggies and fruits blend into a liquid, you can go ahead and serve this crisp and gingery green juice. Simply select your favorite serving glasses, add ice (if you wish), and share them with a family member or friend unless you want two servings for yourself. The taste is oh-so-fresh and oh-so-good. Brookes notes, "The ginger adds that extra element of flavor that is so delicious with the leafy greens and natural sweetness of the fruit!"
You can pair the juice with your favorite food, like a muffin or bowl of cereal. "I wouldn't recommend swapping a meal for this juice. It's best served as a drink alongside a meal or as a snack. This could be made ahead and stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 24 hours," Brookes says.
We hope this tasty juice gives you something to raise your glass about!
