America's Favorite Grocery Store

Whole Foods came in second

We all have our go-to grocery, and while we may not want to admit that we're creatures of habit, everyone has their favorite. If you're looking for organic products but don't care about price, you head to Whole Foods. And if you're a bargain hunter, you skip on over to the beloved Trader Joe's. However, neither of those supermarkets snagged the number one spot on Morning Consult Intelligence's report of America's favorite brands, and you might be surprised who did.

The study surveyed 200,000 customers and found that Kroger was the clear winner, with 53 percent favorability, and Whole Foods the second favorite, with 48 percent. Rounding out the top five were Safeway, Albertsons and Publix.

If you're scratching your head as to why Costco, Trader Joe's or Wegmans didn't make the list, a representative from Morning Consult tells Food & Wine that the study included only brands that have a large number of stores.
