Free Guacamole & Chips At Chipotle

Say yes to free food

Next time you get asked by a Chipotle employee if you want chips and guacamole with your burrito, the only answer is yes . . . because you'll be getting it for free, thanks to a new promotion.

In an effort to publicize its claim saying Chipotle is now one of the only national restaurant chains that doesn't add colors or preservatives to its food, the company has launched an online game called Spot the Imposter, the prize being a complimentary order of everyone's favorite side.

"At Chipotle, our real ingredients have nothing to hide," Mark Crumpacker, chief marketing and development officer at Chipotle, says in a release. "This new game encourages customers to learn about what's real in their food and what's not, while reinforcing our commitment to high-quality ingredients."

To score the free goods, all you have to do is visit Chipotle's ingredients page, scroll through the list of 51 choices and spot any "imposters," meaning added flavors, colors, preservatives, etc. If you win, the chain will send you a mobile coupon for a free order of chips and guacamole (with the purchase of an entrée, of course). You can enter between now and April 7, and the offer is good at any U.S. location until April 30.

Chipotle is working hard to clean up its act after a handful of PR nightmares, namely the E. coli and norovirus outbreaks. It remains to be seen if free chips and guac can win customers back.
