What To Do In Montauk Besides Eat
What to do in the Hamptons, besides eating, of course
If you find yourself in Montauk this summer, you already know where to look for restaurant recommendations now that DINE is officially in the Hamptons. But if you're looking for activities beyond restaurant-hopping, we've pooled together a few winners to keep you busy.

Here are seven great ways to spend your between-meal hours.
① Fish on the Lazybones with Captain Mike
Take a half-day fishing trip on the Lazybones. The boat goes out twice a day (at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.), and all bait and tackle are included. "Bring your lunch, catch your dinner."
② Take Surf Lessons
If you're going to spend time in Montauk, you should probably spend time on a surfboard, too. The town has become a major East Coast surfing destination in recent years, and there a number of great spots for surf lessons if you're looking for guidance. Check out Surfluca or Coreyswave for private and group lessons. For gear, head over to Air & Speed.
If surfing isn't your thing, we fully support camping out on the beach and watching from afar, can of rosé in hand.
③ Go Wine Tasting
Spend the day sipping rosé at one of the vineyards in the area, like Wölffer Estate Vineyard or Duckwalk Vineyards. And if you feel like going a little farther afield, there are many wineries to explore in the Hamptons. Just be prepared to leave with more than a few bottles in hand.
④ Grab a Beer at Montauk Brewing Company
If wine isn't your thing, take a load off and have a beer at Montauk Brewing Company. If you're lucky, you might even catch one of the yoga classes—followed by an icy-cold brew, of course.
⑤ Bike Around
Cruise around town or do some more serious off-roading in Hither Hills State Park. If you're looking for a rental or a guided tour, check out Montauk Bike Shop.
⑥ Visit Farmers' Markets
Get all your fresh summer produce from the various Hamptons farmers' markets. On Thursday, Montauk has its own, but you can find one every day of the week somewhere on the East End. See here for a full rundown.
⑦ Sip a Sunset Cocktail and Drink in the View
Cap off your long day of activities—or lounging—with a sunset cocktail overlooking the water. A favorite spot for sunset drinks is The Montauket on Fort Pond, where you can easily linger on the porch for hours.
